A warm welcome from our Academic Dean

Dear Applicant,

You have arrived at the applications site for Alef Trust’s Master’s programme in Consciousness, Spirituality and Transpersonal Psychology, and we look forward to receiving your application shortly.

The Alef Trust was established in 2012 to facilitate the delivery of high-quality global education programmes in areas we perceive to be of vital importance for human flourishing. Our learning community operates in the context of the profound interconnectedness of all systems—human, technological, ecological, planetary.

Our MSc in Consciousness, Spirituality and Transpersonal Psychology, as well as the “fallback” awards of Postgraduate Certificate and Postgraduate Diploma in the subject, are validated through a partnership with Liverpool John Moores University – LJMU – in the UK.

Our relationship with LJMU goes back some 30 years, and it was at LJMU that in the early 1990s I first pioneered attendance and online distance-learning programmes in Transpersonal Psychology.

Those enquiring about our programmes express a variety of reasons for their interest. These include the relevance of the topics of study to their professional work, the importance of Alef Trust’s educational initiatives in relation to global issues of concern, and the more personal area of psychological and spiritual growth.

If you are thinking of applying to our MSc, please recognise that it is first and foremost academic in orientation. The MSc is for those who can bring a critical approach through which to evaluate ideas in terms of research evidence and other forms of scholarship.

There are many courses elsewhere that are suitable if you wish to follow a more traditional spiritual path. Those lacking academic skills will find the MSc highly challenging.

There is a section on the application form where you are asked to explain why you have chosen to study specifically in an academic environment, and how you think that your background skills equip you for your studies.

You must appreciate that competition for places on the MSc is high, and the admissions team will examine this section of your application carefully in assessing your suitability. I advise you to consider carefully whether this academic programme of study is the right choice for you, and, if you decide that it is, to ensure that you use this section of the application form wisely in giving the admissions team a clear presentation of your approach to academic study in relation to the topics of study.

By accessing the links on the right-hand side of this page, you will find more information about what studying with us is all about. We look forward to receiving your application. I have no doubt that it will begin an exciting new phase in your personal and professional journey…

And … I look forward to meeting you when you become a student in our community.

Each year’s fees may be paid in two equal instalments, due on September 1 and February 1.

Successful applicants are required to pay a non-refundable deposit of £400 GBP within one month of receiving their letter offering them a place on the programme. The deposit will be deducted from the first instalment of fees due in year one.
