Transpersonal Coaching Psychology
Quality assured (accredited) by Middlesex University
Our Postgraduate Certificate (PG Cert) Programme in Professional Development (Transpersonal Coaching Psychology) provides a collaborative environment to study the science, art and practice of transpersonal coaching psychology (TCP). You will get the opportunity to:
- Explore the basis and value of a transpersonal approach in coaching.
- Discover how the coaching processes can trigger and support both transformation and spiritual awakening.
- Investigate what this type of coaching involves, as well as examine the implications of TCP processes concerning both coach and client, and their coaching relationship.
- Experience the effects of a transpersonal coaching process through direct training and supervision with the course tutor/peers through live webinars and interactive forums.
- Develop applicable coaching skills through a small applied project.
The perspectives, ability to empathise and the quality of the coach’s presence can be as important as the methods used in any coaching process. For this reason, the competencies on which we focus in this TCP course include not only the techniques of transpersonal coaching, but also the means through which coaches can add value and be of support to the client’s experience. This course is for both newcomers in the field of coaching, as well as experienced coaches who want to expand their expertise to include TCP methods.
While this course teaches a distinct coaching methodology – drawing from the fields of Transpersonal Psychology, applied mindfulness practices and the holistic aspects of NLP – it also emphasises the importance of not relying on a particular set of techniques or principles, but rather honing the skill of facilitating a context for transformation. This fundamental TCP skill can also be thought of as holding a liminal space (open, receptive and emergent), walking the client through a transformative passage of questioning and expansion, while helping the client to reintegrate new, widened and resourceful perspectives into their lives.
Many coaching methods claim to be “client centred”, however, TCP is the only approach that addresses the whole person by stressing the integration of self, shadow and spirit in a transformative manner. TCP draws on the transcendent quality of consciousness to shift the client from ego-based problems towards spiritual solutions, yet it does so in a pragmatic way that empowers people in the contexts of their everyday lives. TCP facilitates peak experiences, recognising that such states can bring forward insights that have meaning and practical applications in the area where the client wants to resolve a challenge. Clients learn how to embody their insights and anchor their new perspectives into the relevant contexts of their life. TCP ultimately promotes a sense of connection with a broader spectrum of consciousness, which in turn cultivates a sense of meaning and purpose in life.
Jevon Dangeli (MSc) is a certified NLP trainer, transpersonal coach and hypnotherapy practitioner who has provided live training in these areas since 2004. He gained his MSc in Consciousness, Spirituality and Transpersonal Psychology from Alef Trust. He has written seven training manuals and recorded over 30 audio-programmes, as well as a comprehensive video series where he teaches psychological methods for personal and professional development. He is the developer of the Authentic Self-Empowerment (ASE) approach that combines the holistic aspects of NLP with mindfulness and transpersonal psychology. At the heart of ASE is the skill of open awareness, which he has presented at the International Transpersonal Conference and at the Transpersonal Research Colloquium in Prague, 2017. ASE is a fundamental aspect of the transpersonal coaching model that Jevon teaches in his live transpersonal coach training, as well as in the online MSc Transpersonal Psychology programme and the PG Cert course in transpersonal coaching psychology through Alef Trust.
