Leeson, R. A. (2023). Rewilding ourselves through psychedelic integration participation in the ACER integration cycle: An intuitive inquiry [Unpublished Master’s thesis]. Alef Trust & Liverpool John Moores University.

Psychedelics are a class of psychoactive substances that bring about non-ordinary states of consciousness characterised by qualitative changes in perception, mood, cognition and sense of self. Psychedelic integration refers to the period of time after a psychedelic experience, during which the emergent lessons and insights are woven into daily life. This research uses a transpersonal qualitative method of investigation called intuitive inquiry to explore the lived experience of integrating a psychedelic experience through participation in the ACER Integration framework. Intuitive inquiry invites the researcher to balance intuitive and compassionate ways of knowing with logical discernment in a hermeneutical process comprised of five cycles. Interviews were semi-structured and thematic analysis revealed four main themes and 10 sub-themes. The findings suggest that psychedelic integration is a non-linear process lacking clear time boundaries, which is supported by the presence of community and integrative practices that assist with embodiment.
